Dear Gal,
You’ve peeked my interest… on your “about” section, your phrasing stopped me in my tracks. I’d like to hear more about what you mean by “provoke one another to love Christ and each other right where we are.” I guess the word that stopped me was “provoke.” Care to elaborate on this type of provocation? I don’t know that I’ve ever truly been provoked to love. I like this thought pattern, though…

By “provoke” I mean take specific, deliberate action to encourage and help strengthen each others’ relationship with God, which can only be lived out in close community with other believers. It implies sort of pushing each other on, but not in a forceful way; it means talking with people about God, not just passively saying “Oh, I’ll be praying for you” but stopping to seriously intercede on behalf of your brothers and sisters in Christ, and helping each other fight against and walk through our struggles in life.
Our culture has this notion that our faith is a completely private matter, but we see in the Bible it is meant to be lived out within Christian community and the community at large, so I think by using the phrase “provoke one another” I mean to keep stirring up or keep egging on each other to pursue God and keep walking along the path of sanctification.
Hope that clarifies a bit.
@theologicgal this is the same pattern of thinking I have been led as well. I can see that the Holy Spirit is working on Christians to take on the armor of love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you for your thorough explanation. It is encouraging to me as a follower of Christ.
